E D I T H   M E I S Z L , Soprano

She has been trained to be a singer at the "musicschool Alterlaa" in Vienna and at the Vienna

Conservatory by the  english soprano Kay Williams, singing teacher at these schools. Already

during her studies Edith Meiszl participated in various events and concerts of the

a.m.  aducational establishments. She has increased her knowledge by participating in

seminars for singers.

In the field of lied singing she has been working with " Kammersänger " Walter Berry and has

acquired a considerable lied repertoire whereby she prefers the opus of Franz Schubert,

Robert Schumann and Richard Strauss. Her repertoire also includes for example the soloparts

in the oratorio " The Messiah " by Georg Friederich Händel and " Die Schöpfung " by Joseph

Haydn as well as the soli in various masses of the Vienna Classic.

The singer has performed a lot of church concerts for example in the Schubert-, Piaristen-,

Malteser-, Raindorf- and Karlskirche and other famous churches in Austria.

She sings opera recitals at home and abroad ( so for example as Susanna in " The marriage

of Figaro "  by W.A. Mozart and as Marcelline in " Fidelio " by Ludwig van Beethoven ).  

She has made her opera début as Anne at the first scenic performance of the opera

" Die Fee Urgele " or "Was den Damen gefällt " by Ignaz  Joseph Pleyel in summer 2001 at the

Heldenberg.

The soprano Edith Meiszl has also gained a lot of experience in the field of the operetta in the

course of combined programmes and has often been participating in the great "Robert Stolz

Gala" ( for example at Esterházy palace and at "St. Johannes Nepomuk Kapelle in Vienna" in

the presence of the composerwidow Mrs. Einzi Stolz .

The singer has taken part in programmes of the "Wiener Festwochen" and in various benefit

performances ( such as the great ORF - Show "Licht ins Dunkel" ).
